3 hospitalized after crash involving CPD cruiser

CHICAGO — Three people, including a member of the Chicago Police Department, were hospitalized on Friday afternoon after a crash on the city’s South Side. 

According to Chicago police, the crash unfolded just after 4 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue, in Woodlawn.

Officers say a marked police vehicle was traveling along Cottage Grove when it struck a red Kia at the intersection.

Police say both occupants of the Kia, A 64-year-old woman and a 31-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and were later taken to the hospital in good condition. 

The CPD member also suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital in good condition. 

Currently, it is unclear what led to the crash and authorities say no citations have been issued.
