Troopers arrested three individuals after they fled from the car in Berkley.
You can run, but you apparently can’t hide from Massachusetts State Police’s Air Wing flight crew.
The agency shared a video on social media Wednesday of one of its helicopters tracking a stolen car and then the car’s three fleeing occupants, before troopers on the ground were able to make arrests.
The incident unfolded shortly before 3 p.m. after troopers attempted to stop the car, according to police. The car fled, and troopers stopped chasing it when it exited Route 79 onto local roadways — however, the helicopter, Air 2, soon responded and followed the car to a loop subdivision in Berkley, which is just south of Taunton.
Local police blocked the subdivision’s exits, and the three then bolted from the car on foot. Troopers arrested all three within a few minutes, police said.
The passengers — Alexia Springer, 21, and Lijah Fortes, 27, both of Fall River — were charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle. The driver — 19-year-old Kobe West, also of Fall River — is facing the same charge, as well as a number of driving offenses, including failing to stop for police. He was also wanted on five outstanding warrants, police said.
