AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is ringing in a new phase of construction as part of its “Journey With AUS” program, with a groundbreaking event scheduled for Monday.

The event marks the kickoff of AUS’ West Infill and TSA 3 Checkpoint Expansion project. That marks one of several planned improvements as part of the airport’s multi-year expansion and overhaul effort.

The West Infill and TSA 3 Checkpoint Expansion project will add approximately 75,000 square feet across four levels, tying into the planned second phase of AUS’ outbound baggage handling system, concourse and a new mezzanine level, the release added.

Monday’s groundbreaking is set to run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the west side of the Barbara Jordan Terminal, outside the TSA 3 checkpoint area and the JetBlue ticket counter.

More details on the Journey With AUS expansion program is available online.
