GENEVA, Ill. — A woman is recovering on Monday evening after firefighters pulled her from Fox River in the western suburbs.
According to officials from the Geneva Fire Department, crews were called to the scene just before noon on Monday, following reports that a bystander had witnessed a person jump into the river near the western edge of the downtown Geneva Dam, near East State Street.
Officials say crews then deployed three rescue boats and a dive team to conduct a downstream search for the woman.
Police officers who also responded to the scene eventually spotted the woman floating down the river, near the Union Pacific West Railway trestle, and notified rescue crews.
A rescue boat then located the woman near the Kane County Government Center, pulled her from the water and began life-saving measures.
Crews continued conducting life-saving measures after they arrived at the Fayban Forest Preserve boat ramp.
Officials say the woman was then taken to the hospital but did not provide updates on her condition.
Currently, it is unclear why the woman jumped into the water.
