‘Wordle’ #1,030 Hints and Answer for Sunday, April 14 Game

US

Considering it’s a Sunday and what should normally be a day of rest and relaxation, today’s Wordle isn’t going easy on its players. If you are here for a little help from Newsweek to guess today’s mystery word, you should absolutely not feel bad about it.

A prototype of the viral game was famously created by Brooklyn-based software engineer Josh Wardle in 2013 and then perfected during the pandemic lockdown to entertain his crossword-loving girlfriend—raising the bar for all relationships worldwide. He then decided to upload the game on the internet in October 2021, and a few months after Wordle became viral.

Years later, Wordle still has an estimated 250,000 daily players, according to the website Gitnux. A few fun facts about Wardle, who in January 2022 sold his game to The New York Times for “an undisclosed price in the low seven figures.”

Wardle grew up on a farm in South Wales and is one of three brothers, one of whom, Tim, is a documentary filmmaker you might know for the 2018 film Three Identical Strangers, which explores the themes of identity and nature vs. nurture. His resume includes two years working at Reddit and a stint at Pinterest.

According to Merriam-Webster, the word means “an airship that maintains its form by pressure from contained gas.” A blimp is essentially a large aircraft without wings, flying in the form of a large bag filled with gas lighter that is than air and driven by an engine.

It’s a type of dirigible, similar to Zeppelins—which are rigid, whereas blimps are non-rigid. The first use of the word “blimp” was made in 1916, according to Merriam-Webster.
