Wheeling police investigating suspected murder-suicide

US

Two people are dead in what Wheeling authorities believe to be a domestic-related murder-suicide.

Police were called to a home on the 300 block of 12th Street just before 5:45 p.m. Thursday for a report of two dead bodies inside the residence.

A person checking on the residents discovered their bodies, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the dead couple as 46-year-old Marisa Dister and 44-year-old Russell O’Connor. Autopsies are scheduled for later today.

Police officials said a gun was recovered at the scene in “proximity” to the bodies.

Investigators also reported the couple “were in a strained domestic relationship.”

Police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.
