Representative Jim McGovern of Massachussetts, a Democratic member of the House Rules Committee, has blasted the Republican Party as the “most ineffective, incompetent” House majority in history.
“It has been nearly an entire year—an entire year, almost—since anything we’ve done in the Rules Committeee has gone to the President’s desk, and the last time it did happen it was with Democratic votes,” the congressman said on Thursday, during a meeting of the House Rules Committee. McGovern has been a member of the committee since 2018.
“Republicans have tried and failed to pass their own rules seven times this congress. Before this Congress, it had been 20 years since a rule failed. It’s been 50 years since we’ve seen this many rules go down,” he added.
