Jack Antonoff hangs up on reporter over Taylor Swift question

US

One newspaper learned all too well what asking Jack Antonoff about Taylor Swift will make the producer do — abruptly end an interview and never look back.

The Grammy winner, 39, allegedly hung up on Dutch outlet NRC, after a reporter inquired about his involvement with Swift’s upcoming album, “The Tortured Poets Department.”

“You know I don’t talk about that,” the New Jersey native and frequent Swift collaborator reportedly said before hanging up. “If you’re looking for clickbait, you’ve come to the wrong place. Thank you for this conversation.”

The move by the hitmaker and Bleachers frontman — who also works with Lorde, Lana Del Rey, FKA Twigs and more — comes less than a month after an interview in which Antonoff’s staunch defense of Swift veered into interesting territory.

In speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the Fun alum compared questioning the “Cruel Summer” superstar’s songwriting abilities to “challenging someone’s faith in God.”

“You just don’t go there,” Antonoff said, noting: “I’m a little b—h sometimes, but you come after my friend Taylor, you’re toast to me.”

Antonoff and Swift, 34, have collaborated on every one of her albums since 2014’s “1989” — including her “Taylor’s Version” re-releases — after meeting in 2012.

Due out April 19, “The Tortured Poet’s Department” drops just weeks before Swift kicks off the European leg of her Eras Tour, which was less than a year into its run when it made history as the highest-grossing tour ever.

The new album, Swift’s 11th, is believed to deal in large part with the demise of her roughly six-year relationship with Joe Alwyn, as well as the early days of her romance with current beau and Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.

However, the latter hypothesis was dismissed earlier this month by a source who told Us Weekly that while Swift has certainly penned “very special” song about her Super Bowl-winning lover, “she likely won’t share them with anyone.”
