Woman dies after suffering medical emergency, crashing into pole on South Side: police

CHICAGO — A 33-year-old woman has died after crashing her vehicle into a pole following a medical emergency on Chicago South Side, according to police.

It happened around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 11000 block of South Halsted Street. Police said a woman was driving northbound in a Mitsubishi Outlander and rear-ended a Ford Bronco, before striking a pole.

The woman was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

According to police, the woman appeared to had suffered a medical emergency before the crash occurred.

Police said the driver and passenger of the Bronco, a 65-year-old woman and 53-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and were transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition.

No other injuries were reported.
