Age progression photo of Lina Sardar Khil released 3 years after disappearance

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) released the first age progression image of a San Antonio girl who went missing at the age of three in December 2021. The photo shows what she may look like today at the age of six.

Lina Sardar Khil disappeared from San Antonio on Dec. 20, 2021. She was last seen at a playground in the 9400 block of Fredericksburg Road. An Amber Alert was issued for her later that day, but police later said they were treating her disappearance as a missing persons case and not an abduction. Officers said if it were an abduction, they would have been looking for a particular suspect or have evidence that a suspect was involved.

Lina’s father, Riaz Sardar Khil, said at the time the family initially thought Lina may have left the playground with another Afghan family but later believed she may have been abducted. Extensive searches were done, but Lina was never found.

With family reference photos, NCMEC forensic artists revealed what Lina may look like today at six-years-old.

“It’s heartbreaking to look at Lina, now at six years old. For her family, seeing Lina’s sweet face at this age is especially tough, but it also gives them new hope,” said Angeline Hartmann, director of communications at NCMEC. “We’ve seen countless times how our age progression images can be a driving force in the search for a missing child We’re now asking everyone to take a moment out of their day to take a close look at Lina’s image and share it with others. You never know who might have information that can help bring her home.”
