1 man dead, 1 injured after West Side shooting, Chicago police say

CHICAGO — One man was killed and another man was injured in a shooting Monday night in the Garfield Park neighborhood on the city’s West Side.

According to Chicago police, officers responded to a call in the 3600 block of West Flournoy Street at about 8 p.m. Monday and found two men with gunshot wounds.

A 20-year-old victim had a gunshot wound to the head, police say, and was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead a short time later. An 18-year-old victim had a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police say.

According to police, a third male was placed into custody at the scene for unlawful use of a weapon, and three handguns were recovered.

Area Four detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
