ORLANDO, Fla. — The Broncos’ new uniforms are finally set to arrive.
After a process that lasted more than a year and involved input from staff, ownership, fans, Nike and Denver players, team president Damani Leech announced Monday morning that the Broncos have a “full redesign of the uniform,” set for unveiling in the coming weeks.
“Same colors and same logo, but a full redesign,” Leech said here during the NFL’s spring meetings.
The club started working with the NFL in January 2023 on the official process, which involved a trip to Nike, a survey that garnered more than 10,000 responses from fans and more.
“Part of the process was talking about, what’s important for the Broncos? What’s important for Broncos fans? Wanting to evolve and be new and different but also be respectful of our history and our traditions. Understanding our surroundings from a geographic standpoint, there will be nods to that and I think people be really excited about it.”
Leech said it was exciting and also a “relief” to have the process finished. He’s been asked consistently about the possibility of revamped uniforms almost since the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group took control of the team in August 2022.
“I knew it was one of the first things that fan really just started tweeting me about was the uniforms, so I new there was a lot of passion, a lot of creativity along the way,” Leech said. “We’ve seen a lot of the things, which I think is just a testament to our fan base and how engaged they are and how much they do want to see new uniforms.”
The trip to Nike headquarters in Oregon last spring really set the process on its course.
“They take you through a design vision process,” he said. “What’s important to you? What are you trying to accomplish? On a scale of 1-10, how much change are you looking for? A bunch of different things and then you start iterating and iterating and iterating.”
Now the uniforms will be revealed. Or, soon, at least. Leech said to be on the lookout for updates in the coming weeks. That would put Denver in position to show off the new threads perhaps before the NFL Draft, which begins April 25.
“It’s been a great process across the organization,” Leech said. “Staff, ownership — particularly Carrie (Walton-Penner) has really driven this process. Player involvement, fan involvement and we’re really excited to move in this direction.”
