Halsey celebrated their son’s first birthday by sharing a sweet post to Instagram on Thursday.
“My little tiny baby is a big one year old today! time flies, and I want to land the plane. permanently,” the singer, 27, captioned a series of snaps of their baby.
“your baba and I love you so much. you are smart and fiercely determined and sweet and curious and funny. I am so lucky that you found me Ender Ridley! 🌈,” they added.
The carousel post featured adorable throwback photos and video of the growing boy and his ever-changing hairstyles from a ponytail to a mohawk.
Halsey — who uses “she/they” pronouns — welcomed Ender Ridley with boyfriend Alev Aydin, 39, in July 2021 after suffering three miscarriages.
“Gratitude. For the most ‘rare’ and euphoric birth. Powered by love,” Halsey wrote on their Instagram page at the time of his birth. Following their fertility struggles, the couple chose the name Ender which means “rare.”
The singer’s pregnancy announcement surprised fans when they shared photos from a maternity shoot featuring her baby bump to Instagram in January 2021. The pregnancy announcement was also the first time the “Without Me” singer confirmed their relationship with Aydin after tagging him in the topless photos.
Since giving birth to Ender, Halsey has dealt with multiple different ailments following complications with their endometriosis.
After spending April in and out of the hospital, the “Closer” singer was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is defined by Mayo Clinic as a group of inherited disorders that affect your connective tissues, primarily your skin, joints and blood vessel walls- while Sjogren’s syndrome is a disorder of your immune system identified primarily by dry eyes and a dry mouth.
According to Medical News Today, mast cell activation syndrome causes the immune system to inappropriately activate mast cells, causing them to release too many mediators, resulting in severe allergic reactions that affect several body systems.
Finally, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome is characterized by an increased heart rate, drop in blood pressure and dizziness upon standing
Even with the long list of syndromes, the singer reassured their fans that the diagnosis was the first step in the right direction.
“I don’t want anybody to be worrying. I’m on a treatment plan right now,” Halsey said on their Instagram story at the time of the diagnosis, adding that they were still getting ready for their Love and Power Tour. “I’m really excited and I’m really confident that I’ll be able to do it in a way that’s healthy, where I can perform my best for all of you.”
