Golden State brought the heat Thursday night as the Warriors ended the season for the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals at Chase Center in San Francisco.
In a 120-110 game, the Dubs gave Dallas a proper thrashing and secured a spot in the upcoming NBA Finals.
While the Warriors weren’t able to complete the sweep of the Mavericks on Tuesday night, they redeemed themselves and won the series on their home floor. For three quarters, Game 4 in Dallas looked similar to the Memphis series’ Game 5, with Golden State putting forth an underwhelming effort on the road and were getting blown out. But in the fourth quarter, the Warriors’ youngsters — Jordan Poole and rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody – charged back, cutting the Mavericks’ once big lead down to single digits.
Not only did Dallas get forced into playing their starters again, trying to hold on against the big surge, but the Warriors even brought their starters back, trying to take one miracle swing at escaping with the sweep. The swing missed and the Mavericks won by 10, but it surely put a scare into Dallas and built up confidence in the kiddos.
