Firefighters respond to building explosion in South Austin

CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago firefighters are responding to an explosion in a building in the South Austin neighborhood.

A Chicago Fire Department spokesperson confirmed there was an explosion Tuesday morning in an apartment building near Central and West End avenues. 

Multiple injuries have been reported, and a neighboring building was being evacuated, according to the Fire Department.

Chicago Fire Department video posted on Twitter shows a large amount of debris on the street outside the building.
