Only the Dolphins have averaged fewer points per game than the Patriots so far this season.
After suffering two lopsided losses on the road, the Patriots will look to bounce back at home Sunday afternoon in a matchup against the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium.
Kick-off from Gillette is set for 1 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Fox. You can also listen to the game on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
The injury bug has continued to sting a Patriots (1-3) roster that is seemingly losing veteran stalwarts with each passing day.
Starting center David Andrews is expected to miss the rest of the 2024 season due to a shoulder injury, while safety Jabrill Peppers has already been ruled out of Sunday’s game due to a shoulder injury of his own.
New England’s defense is severely shorthanded these days, with linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley (season-ending torn pectoral) and defensive tackle Christian Barmore (blood clots) also sidelined. Safety Kyle Dugger, who hasn’t practiced all week due to an ankle injury, is listed as questionable.
An already laboring Patriots team has far more problems than just injuries. Be it continued pass-protection woes, turnover issues, and a defense that has been malleable for weeks, things have gone south in a hurry in New England.
Add in reports of a reported “mutiny” brewing within a frustrated locker room, and the stakes are high for head coach Jerod Mayo and his team already.
But New England is also facing a Dolphins team that has plummeted after star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2. After ranking second in the NFL in scoring last season (29.2 points per game), the Dolphins are now last in the league in points per game so far in 2024 (11.3).
If there was ever an opportunity for a “get-right” game for New England, this might be it.
