Man killed in Joliet shooting Saturday afternoon

JOLIET, Ill. – An investigation is underway after a man was shot to death Saturday afternoon in Joliet.

The Joliet Police Department said just after 3:45 p.m., officers were sent to a home in the 800 block of Wenberg Street to investigate a report of shots fired. When officers arrived they found a 42-year-old man, who had been shot multiple, times lying near the entrance of the home.

Officers rendered aid to the victim before paramedics arrived and took him to Silver Cross Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives canvassed the area and found multiple shell casings, according to investigators.

A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
