Bill Belichick visits Washington to cheer on son Steve’s Huskies

Bill Belichick and his son, Steve Belichick, may not be on the Patriots’ coaching staff anymore, but they’re both still heavily involved in football.

The elder Belichick has taken a pause from coaching in the NFL and has pursued various media endeavors, while the younger Belichick is now the University of Washington Huskies’ defensive coordinator under former New England quarterbacks coach Jedd Fisch.

The father-son duo were seen together on the Huskies’ field ahead of Washington’s matchup against Michigan on Saturday. Bill was in grandpa mode, holding and keeping two of his grandchildren entertained while chatting with Steve pregame.

The elder of the two was wearing a Huskies shirt and looked like he could have easily been thrust onto the sideline with a call sheet and headset.

This isn’t the first time Bill has visited his son’s new team since Steve was hired in February. He was a keynote speaker at a coaching clinic in Washington in April.

As for Steve’s Huskies in his first season, Washington is 3-2 entering Saturday’s game against the Wolverines. The Huskies’ defense is allowing 12.4 points per game, has logged 12 sacks, and recorded three interceptions.

Bill was the Patriots’ head coach from 2000-23, and Steve held various defensive coaching roles under his father between 2012-23. They won three Super Bowls in New England together (XLIX, LI, LIII).
