Boy, 15, wounded in North Center shooting, police say

A 15-year old boy was seriously injured Friday afternoon in a shooting in the North Center neighborhood, according to Chicago police.

The teen was in Hannibal Hamlin Park in the 3000 block of North Hoyne Avenue around 2:20 p.m. when two men approached with handguns, shot at him and ran away, police said.

The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital in serious condition, according to police.

Police said that no one was in custody as detectives began their investigation.
