Speeding Jeep rams truck in wreck that ends when trailer detaches, hit house, pole in Englewood

US

A speeding Jeep smashed into a truck, causing a chain-reaction crash that ended when the truck’s trailer detached, and slams into a house and a pole in early Friday in Englewood.

No serious injuries were reported.

About 2:45 a.m., a white Jeep going “at a high rate of speed” blew a red light and smashed into a truck, causing its trailer to detach in the 2000 block of West Marquette Road, Chicago police said.

The Jeep’s driver then ran away as the trailer plowed into a home and light pole before coming to a stop, police said.

The Jeep driver, who was taken in good condition to Holy Cross Hospital with an arm injury, was eventually placed into custody and is facing multiple citations.

The trucker refused medical attention and no one inside the house was hurt, police said.
