Man facing additional arson charge in connection with September 2023 homicide

US

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man already charged with murder related to a September 2023 homicide investigation has now been connected to arson related to the case, an arrest warrant affidavit said.

On Sept. 26, 2023, shortly before 11 a.m., first responders arrived in the 2300 block of Greenfield Parkway and found 40-year-old Keith Bedford on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, previous court records said.

Later that morning, a black Acura was seen being parked at a dead-end road on Valleyfield Drive by two people, according to an arson arrest warrant affidavit. The Acura sat at the dead-end road until Oct. 3, 2023, when a witness saw the vehicle on fire and “multiple people” wearing “dark hoodies” were seen leaving the area, court records said.

Moses Wangobe Mohinga, 23, was previously charged with murder in connection with the homicide, court documents said back in November 2023. The latest court documents highlighting the arson have also linked Mohinga to the vehicle fire.

APD detectives obtained a search warrant to obtain data from Mohinga’s cellphone, which records said showed proof he was “present” during the murder Sept. 26, when the vehicle was parked on Greenfield Parkway and for the vehicle arson one week later, according to the affidavit.

KXAN has reached out to Mohinga’s attorney for the case. This article will be updated if a statement is received.

Mohinga’s bond amount was set at $25,000 for the arson charge, according to online court records.
