Chicago police have opened a death investigation after a man was discovered unresponsive with a gunshot wound Tuesday morning in the Marquette Park neighborhood.

Shortly after 7 a.m., firefighters responded to an alarm in the 2400 block of Lithuania Plaza Court where a man was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Fire officials quickly reported the death was not fire related.

Chicago police said they have opened a death investigation pending autopsy results.
