Alan Stec faces 17 charges related to the road rage incident in Brockton District Court, documents show.

Police arrested a man for an alleged incident of road rage on Sunday, the East Bridgewater Police Department said in a statement

Alan Stec, 61, was driving near 555 Washington Sreet when he allegedly hit another car and attempted to hit several pedestrians crossing the road, police said. Officers allegedly found Stec in a damaged car. Stec refused to stop for police and drove onto a lawn, narrowly avoiding collisions with oncoming traffic, the statement said.

Stec then allegedly drove into the backyard of a nearby home, refusing to stop the car, police said. He allegedly continued to drive the car behind the home and attempted to flee police on foot. Police said they ordered Stec to stop multiple times, after which an officer tased him.

Police said Stec allegedly spit on officers after they arrested him.

Stec now faces 17 charges, eight of which are assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Other charges include failing to stop when ordered, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. He submitted a not guilty plea, court documents show.

The statement from East Bridgewater police said Stec was held on $250,000 bail. However, that bail was revoked on Monday. Prosecutors submitted an affidavit claiming Stec committed the crimes on Sunday while on release awaiting a separate trial. He was previously charged with malicious damage to a motor vehicle, court records show.

Representation for Stec did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
