Wieners Circle hit by smash-and-grab

US

Chicago’s most notorious hot dog stand The Wieners Circle was burglarized for a second time early Monday, the restaurant operators said on social media.

The break-in took place at the Lincoln Park joint, known for dishing out insults along with hot dogs, about 3:30 a.m. and involved three or four suspects, police said. The group broke the glass door to the business and took what police said may have been a safe before they left in a black SUV.

Wieners Circle management didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment Monday afternoon. The business did address “hamburglars” and confirmed the break-in Monday morning with a joking post to X, formerly known as Twitter, that referenced the 1988 film “Coming to America.”

“We have hired a guy named Hakeem from Zumunda, come back and he will be forced to thrash you with a mop handle if you come back,” the post read.

Police said no one was in custody and that area detectives were investigating.
