Man found guilty of capital murder in death of wife, stepson at east Austin home

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man was sentenced to life in prison after a jury found him guilty in the murders of his wife and stepson, according to court records.

David Ontiveros was convicted of capital murder of multiple persons. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In April 2022, court documents said Ontiveros shot and killed his wife, 39-year-old Christina Limon, and stepson, 14-year-old Rudy Limon-Lira, at an east Austin home. Limon-Lira was a student at Travis Early College High School.

Court documents previously said security system video captured multiple gunshots. The video showed Ontiveros walking out of the house and telling police he “blacked out.”

Texas Department of Public Safety records show, that between 1997 and 2017, Ontiveros had eight previous convictions including aggravated assault and assault causing bodily injury-family violence.
