APD investigating body found near Cesar Chavez Street

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police Department said Sunday afternoon that it is investigating a death near Cesar Chavez and Nueces Street.

Austin Fire initially responded to 9-1-1 calls about a “male behaving erratically” near Nueces Street and Cesar Chavez Street around 2:00 p.m. Sunday. The male entered the water at Lady Bird Lake, but firefighters pulled him from the water.

Austin Firefighters and Austin-Travis County EMS attempted life-saving measures, but were unsuccessful.

Cause of death has yet to be determined. An APD public information officer said that APD is not considering the death as suspicious.
