Silver Fire in San Bernardino County threatening structures stopped by firefighters

US

Forward progress has been stopped on a fast-moving, wind-driven vegetation fire in San Bernardino County that was threatening structures, fire officials announced Sunday.

It’s unclear exactly when the Silver Fire, located near Horsethief Canyon in Hesperia at the intersection of the Highway 173 and North Highway 138, started, but officials with Cal Fire San Bernardino reported the blaze just after 3:30 p.m.

Officials said the fire was approximately 5 acres with a “rapid rate of spread,” in a post to X, formerly Twitter.

The fire later spread to an additional five acres before crews were able to contain it.

It does not appear that any evacuation orders were issued or that any structures were damaged during the blaze.

Crews, according to officials, are working to put out any hot spots.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
