“By all measure, our on-field performance this season was a failure,” Reinsdorf wrote. “As the leader of this organization, that is my ultimate responsibility. There are no excuses.”

The 121 losses left fans extremely angry, and rightfully so. Reinsdorf thanked the fans for their support throughout the season.

“I want to thank you for continuing to support the team throughout what was an embarrassing season,” Reinsdorf continued. “You all deserved better. This season’s performance was completely unacceptable and the varying reactions and emotions from our fanbase are completely understandable.”

The White Sox haven’t made the playoffs since 2021. At times like these, fans are desperate for the front office to make moves in the offseason to bolster the roster.

That likely won’t happen since general manager Chris Getz implied that the White Sox didn’t have any grand free agency plans.

Getz stated the White Sox haven’t determined the level of free agents they’ll target. He all but promised it wouldn’t be any high-profile player.

The front office is hoping to flip the players they acquire in free agency for more prospects. The strategy is a mirror image of what Chicago chose to do the year prior.

It’s evident the plan of attack, or lack thereof, wasn’t successful.

The White Sox traded former top prospect Michael Kopech to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline this season. In return, Chicago received Miguel Vargas and two prospects.

Kopech is now headed to the NLDS with the Dodgers. Meanhwile, the White Sox made history with their losing record this season, a humiliation to the franchise.

Nevertheless, Reinsdorf assured fans that the actions will match the heartfelt words in his letter.

“Whether said out loud or written in a statement, words are easy,” Reinsdorf wrote. “I understand we need to show our progress through action, and I commit to you that everyone associated with the White Sox is focused on returning this organization to the level of success we all expect and desire.”

Only time will tell if his words ring true. For now, fans will have to wait until next season to see the White Sox in action.
