Bears guard Teven Jenkins hurts ribs, won’t return to Rams game

Bears guard Teven Jenkins will not return to Sunday’s game against the Rams after hurting his ribs.

Jenkins went down three minutes into the second quarter at Soldier Field on a play in which rookie quarterback Caleb Williams ran for seven yards. He went immediately to the locker room and was ruled out shortly after halftime.

He was replaced by guard Matt Pryor, who moved from right guard to left. Nate Davis, who had been benched the past two games, took Pryor’s place.

Jenkins is part of a starting Bears offensive line that has struggled mightily this season. The Bears allowed Williams to get sacked seven times in their Week 2 loss to the Texans. Through three weeks, the Bears had the league’s second-worst rushing attack.

A former second-round pick, Jenkins is in the last year of his rookie deal. The Bears have told him that if they entertain contract extension talks, they won’t come until the bye week next month.
