2 gang members shot in South Gate, 1 dead: LASD

Homicide detectives have launched an investigation into a deadly overnight shooting in South Gate, and new information indicates the two victims were in a gang. 

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were dispatched to the 8000 block of San Luis Avenue at 2:03 a.m. Saturday on calls of a shooting. 

When they arrived, they found the two victims, identified only as Hispanic men, both suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso.

Deputies rendered aid before the two victims were transported to a nearby hospital. One of the men was pronounced dead upon arrival and the other was listed in critical but stable condition, LASD stated shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday.

Both men are known members of a gang, deputies added.

A suspect description or motive was not immediately established.
