A teen suspect was arrested after leading deputies on a dangerous pursuit in San Bernardino County.

The suspect was only identified as a 17-year-old male Colton resident, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

On Sept. 26, deputies patrolling the area spotted the teen riding an off-road motorcycle near West Main Street and Iowa Avenue in Colton shortly before 3 p.m.

They attempted to pull him over for a vehicle registration and helmet violation, but he refused to yield, leading deputies on a pursuit.

The biker headed onto the northbound lanes of the 215 Freeway and led deputies on a four-mile chase before exiting in the Grand Terrace area.

While speeding on surface streets, the suspect drove recklessly, running red lights and traveling on the sidewalk at times, authorities said.

Air units eventually arrived to assist deputies on the ground. After about 20 minutes, the teen suspect was eventually stopped and taken into custody.

He was arrested for felony evading and transported to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Central Station where he was cited and later released to his parent.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Deputy Causey of the Central Sheriff’s Station at 909-387-3545. Anonymous tips can be provided to We-Tip at 1-800-782-7463 or online at wetip.com.
