1 dead, 2 hurt as SUV hits school bus head-on in Lancaster

A person was killed when a school bus and SUV collided in Lancaster Friday morning.

The bus, which was not carrying any children, and a Kia Sorrento collided just after 7 a.m. in the 1700 block of Columbia Way, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the bus was headed west on Avenue M when the Sorento swerved into traffic for unknown reasons and hit the bus head-on.

A woman who was driving the Kia was killed in the crash.

Two adults who were on the bus were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
