An arraignment date is not set yet for the Mashpee teen.
A Barnstable County Grand Jury has indicted a Mashpee teen driver on charges following a car crash that killed a 17-year-old and seriously injured another occupant earlier this summer, according to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s Office.
Jack Burns, 17, is charged with operating a motor vehicle recklessly, resulting in a death, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resulting in serious bodily injury, the office said.
An arraignment has not been set yet for Burns in Falmouth Juvenile Court.
In the early morning hours on June 25, Burns was driving a Toyota RAV4, carrying seven teenagers, when he crashed it into a tree along Carleton Drive in Mashpee.
Nolan Barr, a 17-year-old from Mashpee, died as a result of his injuries from the crash. Police reported that five others, including one teen who was seriously hurt, sustained injuries.
Barr was a rising senior at Mashpee Middle-High School, known for his wit, charm, and dedication to sports, including football and basketball.
