The inaugural Paw Paw Pawpaw Festival leads Go & Show this week. But there’s also a CWD meeting tonight and a boat show this weekend.
- The Paw Paw Pawpaw Festival, an ambitious effort centered around the native fruit, is Saturday, Sept. 28, in Paw Paw in Lee County from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. It has an extensive list of presenters and activities, one after another. I am planning on being there, for at least for several hours and perhaps the day. It’s free. There will be pawpaw items for sale. More information is at pawpawfest.org.
- Tonight, Sept. 26, there is a meeting by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to give updates on chronic wasting disease (CWD) at Des Plaines State Fish and Wildlife Area Wilmington beginning at 6 p.m. Click here for more information from the IDNR. I plan to be there, if I get out of the possibly historic final Sox home game of the year in time.
- The Geneva Lake Boat Show, presented by the Blackhawk chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, is Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29, at The Abbey in Fontana, Wisconsin. Details are at genevalakesboatshow.com.
