President Biden delivers final United Nations address

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — President Joe Biden made his last address to the United Nations General Assembly Tuesday morning.

“I’ve seen a remarkable sweep of history,” Biden said.

Biden highlighted the importance of alliances and U.S support to address major issues around the world.

“War, hunger, terrorism, brutality, record displacement of people, a climate crisis,” Biden said.

The president made a case to keep up support for Ukraine in its war against Russia.

“I asked the people in this chamber to stand up for them,” Biden said.

President Biden urged an end to the conflict in the Middle East, and to secure a future for Israel and innocent Palestinians.

“Now is the time for the parties to finalize its terms, bring the hostages home, and secure security for Israel and Gaza free of Hamas’ grip, ease the suffering in Gaza, and end this war,” Biden said.

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blames the administration for the rising tensions in the region.

“It is the combination of a weak and ineffectual response to Iran backed aggression,” McConnell said.

President Biden is still optimistic that a diplomatic solution is possible.

“Progress toward peace will put us in a stronger position to deal with the ongoing threat posed by Iran,” Biden said.

The president delivered a final call to action.

“There’s nothing that’s beyond our capacity if we work together,” Biden said.
