Man, 39, dies in high-speed crash into tree on West Side: CPD

CHICAGO — A 39-year-old man is dead after crashing into a tree on the city’s West Side, according to Chicago police.

The crash happened just after 11 p.m. Monday on the 4600 block of West Maypole in the Austin neighborhood.

Police said the 39-year-old driver of a Buick sedan was traveling westbound on Maypole at a high-rate of speed, when he lost control of he vehicle and struck a tree.

The man was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash is under investigation.
