Tanker truck overturns, killing driver in Orange County

The driver of a big tanker truck suffered fatal injuries when his vehicle overturned in Orange County Monday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of West Sunflower Avenue & Fairview Road, near the 405 Freeway, the Costa Mesa Police Department posted on X, formerly Twitter, just before 9:30 a.m.

A photo released by police showed the truck on its side with debris spread across the intersection.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details were immediately released.

The intersection was expected to be closed for about six hours, police stated in the post.
