Man dies in 'accidental' stabbing in downtown Los Angeles: LAPD

Detectives are are investigating a fatal stabbing in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night that was later determined to be “accidental,” police said. 

According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, the initial call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon related to a cutting at Wall and 3rd streets was received at 9:21 p.m. 

Upon arriving, officers located a man with puncture wounds, the spokesperson told KTLA, adding that the type of weapon used was not immediately known. 

The man, who was believed to be in his 50s or 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows multiple squad cars behind yellow tape and a white tent covering the victim. 

LAPD shared an update with KTLA just after 6:45 a.m. that indicated the stabbing was “accidental” and that a homicide investigation was not being conducted.
