Don’t fall for fake Topsfield Fair tickets, officials warn

James O’Brien, the fair’s general manager, took to social media this past week to warn the public about these scams.

Even America’s oldest fair isn’t exempt from scam attempts in 2024.

Buying a ticket at the gate for the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, Massachusetts, and gaining access to all the classic coasters and cattle (as well as concerts and events) fair-goers can handle is $15. Scam artists are targeting those same fair-goers with a falsified website that says tickets are between $69 and $99, according to organizers.

James O’Brien, the fair’s general manager, took to social media this past week to warn the public about these scams.

“We have received multiple reports of ticket sales from the website ticketscenter.com. All Topsfield Fair tickets from this site are fraudulent, as the Topsfield Fair is not selling tickets to get into the Arena,” reads the post.

O’Brien is concerned about the money the Topsfield patrons are losing.

“I was extremely disappointed because I feel that our patrons work hard for their money,” O’Brien said, as reported by WBZ-TV. “I don’t want anyone to be cheated. We are all about value. We are selling $15 pre-fair tickets.”

The money is almost impossible to recover, according to WBZ-TV.

All tickets for the Topsfield Fair, which opens Oct. 4, can be found on TopsfieldFair.org or in-person at the fairgrounds. There are no other websites or in-person vendors, according to officials.
