Massive fire engulfs old courthouse building near Dodger Stadium

Over 100 firefighters battled a massive blaze that engulfed an old courthouse near Dodger Stadium Saturday night.

Los Angeles Fire Department crews responded to the one-story building, located on the 1100 block of North San Fernando Road in Glassell Park, shortly before 6 p.m. 

The fire sent large plumes of dark, billowing smoke into the air that was seen by thousands of fans attending a game at nearby Dodger Stadium.

The flames threatened a nearby two-story building, but fire crews were able to protect the building from the growing fire.

Over 100 firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze which left the old courthouse destroyed and structurally unstable, officials said.

No injuries were reported during the incident, which was classified as a “Major Emergency” structure fire. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
