Police search for 3 wanted in connection with robbery, beating on Red Line platform in Loop

CHICAGO — Authorities are asking for help identifying a group of people wanted in connection with a robbery and beating that unfolded on a CTA Red Line platform in the Loop on Monday.

According to Chicago police, the incident unfolded around 3:30 a.m. in the 100 block of North State Street, at the Washington/Wabash station.

Officers said during the incident, the victim was approached by three people who proceeded to grab his headphones and backpack. When the victim attempted to stop them, a fight broke out and the perpetrators punched and kicked him.

On Thursday, police shared photos of the three people who are believed to have been responsible for the violent robbery as the investigation continues.

Officers also provided the following descriptions for the individuals who are believed to have been involved:

  • A man believed to be between 18 and 20 years of age who was seen wearing a red doo-rag, black tank top and black pants.
  • A second man believed to be between 18 and 20 years of age who was seen wearing a brown-green hooded sweatshirt, with a “Tommy Hilfiger” logo on the front and ripped jeans.
  • A woman believed to be between 18 and 20 years of age who is believed to stand between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11 and weigh between 15 and 170 pounds, who was seen wearing a red jumpsuit and white shoes.

Police advise the public to remain aware of their surroundings and stay free from distractions. According to officers, anyone who is confronted by an assailant should try to remain calm.

Authorities warn the public never to pursue a fleeing assailant and instead work to remember any unique physical characteristics of the offenders. 

Police say those who fall victim or witness a crime should call 911 immediately and provide authorities with a detailed description of the offenders.
