American Airlines discontinuing 4 flights from Austin

US

AUSTIN (KXAN) — American Airlines is discontinuing four service routes from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in the next few months, an airline spokesperson confirmed Wednesday.

In November, American Airlines flights between AUS and Nashville, Raleigh/Durham and Boston will discontinue. Come January, the airline will end its flight operations between AUS and Orange County.

In a statement, the spokesperson said the airline is connecting with customers impacted by the discontinuations at this time.

“As part of the continuous evaluation of our network, American will reduce service from Austin (AUS) starting this winter,” the spokesperson said in an email to KXAN. “American will continue to offer customers access to our comprehensive global network of more than 350 destinations with one-stop connections. We’re proactively reaching out to impacted customers and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.”

American Airlines will continue operating routes connecting AUS to its eight domestic hubs:

  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Dallas, Texas
  • Los Angeles International Airport in Los Angeles, California
  • Miami International Airport in Miami, Florida
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, New York
  • Philadelphia International Airport in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix, Arizona

Come 2025, American Airlines will still offer 30% more peak-day departures and more than 20% additional peak-day seats departing from AUS compared to 2019 figures.

An AUS spokesperson said airport officials are aware of the schedule adjustments and added those routes will continue “to be served by other AUS carriers.”
