What do you get when a former Patriots player, two Olympians from New England, and a Boston Bachelorette walk into a ballroom? The 33rd season of Dancing With the Stars, of course!

Four contestants in this year’s season of Dancing With the Stars have New England ties. Find out who they are and how they did during Tuesday night’s season premier, below.

Former Patriots player Danny Amendola

Former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola is partnered with pro Witney Carson. Amendola signed with New England in 2013 and won three Super Bowl titles with the team. He retired in 2022, but is on the dance floor to try and win one more trophy.

Amendola performed a Tango with Carson to “A Bar Song (Tipsy) [Remix]” by Shaboozey & David Guetta. The pair scored 20 out of 30 points from judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli.

Rugby player, Olympic medalist, and influencer Ilona Maher

Vermont native Ilona Maher plays for the U.S. women’s national rugby sevens team. You may know her from her recent bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics, or her social media presence, where she promotes body positivity and shows what life is like as an elite athlete. She’s partnered with pro Alan Bersten.

On Tuesday, she and Bersten hit the floor with a Cha Cha to “Man, I Feel Like a Woman” by Shania Twain. The judge panel gave Maher 18 out of 30 points. She celebrated the score by chest-bumping Bersten.

Stephen Nedoroscik became an overnight sensation with his pommel horse routine at the Olympics this past summer. The Worcester native (and his glasses) quickly became a meme. He left the Olympics with two bronze medals under his belt, and now is vying for the Mirrorball Trophy with pro partner Rylee Arnold.

The pair performed a jive to Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.” He began the performance by removing his glasses and winking at the camera. Judges awarded them three sevens, for a total of 21 points – one of the top-scoring performances of the night.

Bachelorette Jenn Tran

Bachelorette Jenn Tran’s season ended on a low note when she and her final contestant didn’t end up together after the final rose. But now, the Boston resident is back in the game and on the dance floor with her partner, pro Sasha Farber.

Tran and Farber danced a Cha Cha set to a fitting song for the former Bachelorette, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus. Judges awarded the performance 18 points.
