2 students arrested after threats made to several campuses, PfISD letter says

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two students in the Pflugerville Independent School District were arrested in connection with threats made to several campuses in the district, PfISD Superintendent Quintin Shepherd said in a letter sent to parents.

One student was arrested and accused of making a threat against Weiss High School last week. The other was accused of making threats “against multiple campuses” Tuesday, the letter said.

The arrests come after several Central Texas school districts reported social media threats were spreading across platforms that started last week, the district said.

Other school districts that experienced similar social media threats included Austin Independent School District, Hays Consolidated Independent School District, Marble Falls Independent School District and Llano Independent School District.

Shepherd said in the letter that the district received “multiple new threats at other campuses across the district” Tuesday.

“Our PfISD Police Department and local law enforcement have investigated each of these threats, and thankfully, none were deemed credible, and no weapons have been found on any PfISD campus,” Shepherd said.

The district said these actions “carry very real consequences.”

“These actions create a climate of fear and anxiety and significantly strain district resources, diverting attention from the educational process. We urge all parents to talk to their children about the seriousness of making threats, even if they are meant as a joke,” Shepherd said.
