A man died days after he was stabbed by a group of people last week in East Garfield Park.

Lavonte Jones, 38, was walking Wednesday in the 300 block of South Homan Avenue when three males approached him and began stabbing him with a sharp object about 3:30 a.m., Chicago police said.

Jones suffered wounds in the chest and shoulder and was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

He died of his injuries Sunday, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The attackers fled on foot, police said. No arrests were made.
