Long Beach police in stand-off with double homicide suspect

A double homicide suspect barricaded himself in a Long Beach home after a shooting Monday morning that killed two people.

SWAT team members and assisting officers have the house surrounded and are attempting to contact the man as of 4:30 p.m. Sky5 is on the scene.

Long Beach Police said officers responded to the 300 block of East 63rd Street after receiving a report of a shooting around 11:15 a.m.

At the scene, officers found one woman with gunshot wounds to her upper body and a man with unknown injuries.

The man died at the scene, and first responders with Long Beach Fire took the woman to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Officers tracked down the suspect, an adult man, after he fled into a nearby residence.

Law enforcement has had him surrounded since, and the investigation is underway.
