Emmys 2024: Best (and Most Importantly) Worst Dressed of the Night

US

Are the Emmy Awards the very distant cousin of the Oscars? Yes. So, does that mean their fashion pales in comparison to their more popular cinematic cousin? Yes. (I’m sorry, I’m just being honest here.)

But that doesn’t mean the stars of television didn’t turn it out 76th Primetime Emmy Awards. There were some standout looks (Selena Gomez) and some very obvious misses (RuPaul). Who was the best? Let’s get into it.

OK, let’s start with men’s fashion, because it’s always best to get the most boring part of anything out of the way first, right? As always, Fellow Travelers‘ Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer killed it on the red carpet, as they have been for the past year.

Also, Ripley‘s Andrew Scott knows exactly what he’s doing on the red carpet. Baby Reindeer‘s Richard Gadd and Alan Cumming from The Traitors hit the red carpet in Scottish kilts. Notable mentions go to Idris Alba for looking right (as always) and Jeremy Allen White for keeping it classic.

Who was the worst dressed man? Sorry RuPaul, but that cowboy hat was just not working for me.

That said, there are two men who absolutely dominated the red carpet this year, and they come from the same show, Abbott Elementary. Chris Perfetti always comes ready to turn a look, but Tyler James Williams came with those arms out. (Listen, I never had teachers like them, but I wish I did.)

Now for the women. The funny ladies really came ready this year. Mindy Kaling, Kristen Wiig, and Quinta Brunson all looked fantastic. Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan stood out in a silver peplum gown and Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph made a statement in a yellow hooded gown.

Who was a miss on the female said? Laura Dern was meh and I hate to say this, but I just don’t get what The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri was wearing. It was this multi-colored column gown that just didn’t hit the way she has been hitting the red carpet.

The best of the night? Selena Gomez! She must have taken the title of her Hulu show, Only Murders in the Building, to heart because she murdered it on the red carpet.
