Donald Trump Is a ‘Deeply Unwell Traitor’: Mary Trump

US

Former President Donald Trump‘s estranged niece has described her uncle as a “deeply unwell traitor.”

In a Saturday blog post titled “Cheating as Way of Life, What Donald Keeps Getting Away With,” Mary Trump talked about what she believes to be at stake in the upcoming election and the “lies,” allegedly told by her uncle.

Her comments came shortly after she appeared on MSNBC‘s Deadline: White House, on Wednesday, when Mary Trump told the host Nicolle Wallace that her uncle had suffered a “resounding defeat,” in the first, and potentially only, presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday night.

The majority of polls and pundits said that Harris had won the debate. The former president’s niece said that the loss was “a narcissistic injury that he will never get over.”

The psychologist and author, who is the daughter of Donald Trump‘s brother Fred, is a prolific and frequent critic of the former president. In 2020, she published the book Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man, which was critical of Trump.

“Donald spent the weekend, as he often does, lying to the American people,” Mary Trump wrote on her Substack channel.

She then referred to the former president’s claims that the debate with Harris was rigged, and his assertion that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

“It’s always projection with my uncle,” she said, “and that is never more true than when he’s in the process of trying to pre-rig an upcoming election.”

Mary Trump went on to speak about a post made by her uncle on his app Truth Social in which he declared that the 2024 election “will be under the closest professional scrutiny.” He said that the Democrats engaged in “rampant Cheating and Skulduggery,” in 2020.

He went on to state in the post that, “WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the LAW.”

Mary Trump quoted the post in full, and said that, “Not surprisingly, this rant ignored the fact that the only people who got caught cheating in the last presidential election were a few old white Republicans, living in the Villages, and of course, him.”

She wrote, “The stakes are much higher now than they were in either 2016 or 2020, and he will stop at absolutely nothing to get back into the White House—which at this point, is the only thing that will save his dwindling fortune or keep him out of prison.”

“This election is too important to for us to rely on outlets that continue, against all evidence to the contrary, to normalize a deeply unwell traitor just so they can preserve the horse race of it all,” Mary Trump said.

Newsweek contacted Donald Trump’s campaign for comment which provided the following statement: “Trump Derangement Syndrome is a serious issue and some people like her need to get checked out.”

Newsweek has contacted Mary Trump for comment via Facebook.
