Woman who allegedly shot man during armed robbery in Roseland faces felony charges

A woman is facing felony charges after she was accused of shooting a man during an armed robbery in Roseland last month, Chicago police said.

Aniah Benson, 19, faces three felony charges, including aggravated battery by discharging a firearm, armed robbery with a firearm and possession of less than 100 grams of cocaine, police said. She was arrested three blocks from the scene of the shooting Friday.

Benson is alleged to have shot and taken the belongings of a 33-year-old man in the 200 block of West 92nd Street about 8:35 a.m. Aug. 23, police said. The man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.

Benson is due in court Sunday.
