Since her 2020 single “death bed (coffee for your head)” went TikTok viral at the peak of the pandemic, often soundtracking videos of users trying out the whipped Dalgona coffee trend, Filipina-British singer-songwriter beabadoobee has produced one hit after another.

While more recent favorites like the playful, bossa nova-inspired 2022 track “the perfect pair” and addictive 2024 single “Take A Bite” haven’t necessarily garnered the same magnitude of attention, they’ve earned her an extremely loyal fanbase — a fanbase that was in full force at her sold-out show at MGM Music Hall Friday night.

Thanks in part to her recent stint as an opener on Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and her unexpected shout-out on Peacock’s summer binge-watching sensation “Love Island U.S.A.” by Islander and superfan Rob Rausch, beabadoobee gained nearly two million monthly listeners this summer ahead of her most recent album release. The record, “This Is How Tomorrow Moves,” became the first to top the UK Charts upon its release. But regardless of whether they were new fans or day-one ride-or-dies, the crowd had clearly studied up. The opening chords of every new song were met with cacophonous cheers, and every audience member seemed to know all the words.

“You guys are so loud and so much fun,” remarked beabadoobee, born Beatrice Kristi Ilejay Laus. “I especially like when you sing along.”

This was one of the few moments during which the singer addressed the venue. For most of the set, she let the music speak for itself, alternating between a hot pink electric guitar for 2000s rock riffs featured in songs like “Care” and “Beaches,” and an acoustic guitar for the plucky, confessional love songs she’s known for, like “Coffee” and “Glue Song.”

The lighting and decorations were equally stripped-back, with a white sheet evoking her DIY roots hanging behind the band and only a small orange tree adorning the stage. This subtlety made the mid-set reveal of an intricate web of branches illuminated behind the sheet all the more rewarding, eliciting an appreciative gasp from the audience. The effect was perfectly befitting of what beabadoobee’s music itself tends to evoke — charming, deceptively simple melodies complemented by sincere and introspective lyricism.

The performance may have been somewhat subdued, though the crowd was anything but. During the longing-infused 2019 friendship anthem “She Plays Bass,” beabadoobee was even able to get the entire venue to jump up and down in time with the chorus’s repetitive hook.

The response to her slower songs was no less enthusiastic, and the audience screamed the lyrics of sentimental numbers “Girl Song” and “Coffee” just as they would her catchier hits. They also took the chance to shout compliments like “You’re beautiful!” and “We love you, Bea!” any chance they got, so it was no surprise when the singer was summoned back to the stage almost immediately after closing the set with fan favorite “Cologne.”

Sensing the crowd’s hunger for more, beabadoobee played three songs for her encore.

“I know you know this one, I’ve seen your TikToks,” she teased before launching into her melancholic 2023 breakup song “the way things go,” a sound that went viral on TikTok.

She concluded with “See you Soon,” and perhaps the suggestion of beabadoobee’s return to Boston was enough to finally satisfy the adoring audience’s appetite. Soft-voiced indie pop singer Keni Titus kicked off the night with a short set of acoustic, stream-of-consciousness music reminiscent of beabadoobee’s earlier work, and Texas-based alternative pop duo Hovvdy brought a small taste of country folk to New England.
